Gimmick Garage: Encore

Welcome to the Gimmick Garage, where Crave Cravak stores his original wrestler gimmick ideas. If you happen to like any of them, comment below.

What do you get when you take a wrestler like Drew McIntyre, mix him with a scary looking Superman 2 villain and place him in an arrogant thespian’s shoes as a modern theatre themed incarnation of Goldust? You get…

Encore

TYPE: Heel

LEVEL: Midcard, possible one-time shot at a face heavyweight champion

COMPATIBILITY: Could have a theatre themed manager, could also be useful in a bizarre-esque stable, or to form a freakish tag team.

Theme: Theatre/Drama/Acting

BODY TYPE: Drew McIntyre / Golddust –> Tall, lengthy, athletic

RING STYLE: Technical / Matt Wrestler / Submission Specialist

LOOKS LIKE:  Non, a Superman 2 Villain (pictured below), with red hair mixed with a pony-tailed Drew Mcyintre.

ENTRANCE: Surrounded in curtains brought down to the ring by “stage hands,” he would reveal himself in the middle of the ring bowing.

FINALE: Following a victory, the stage hands would toss roses into the ring with Encore taking a bow with a rose in his mouth.

ENTRANCE ATTIRE: Flowery link pink robe.

IN-RING ATTIRE: Reddish singlet

Move/Finisher Names: Exit Stage Right, MacDeath, Matinee Melee, Final Act, Breaking the 4th Wall

GIST: I’ve always been a fan of the Goldust character and felt it could be successfully re-mixed into other gimmicks, unlike the ones that Dustin Rhodes portrayed when not in a WWE ring. Encore would be an amusing heel as he would be peculiar in his theatre arrogance. Yet he wouldn’t be seen as a joke such as Disco Inferno as he would be serious competitor in the ring much like Goldust was in the beginning. Given his bizarre personality he would be primed for comedic backstage segments. He wouldn’t need a title put on him and would just be an entertaining heel to job to rising faces and occasionally beat falling stars to remain credible. Encore would be primed for a solid 2-3 year run as a heel before he would need to be placed in a stable or tag team or turn face.
